The anchor is from the wreck of the Canadian-built Verity, a three-mast barque which lost its battle against the elements in January 1880 having drifted miles along the Irish coast. The distressed vessel reportedly drifted past a steamer and a schooner and let off distress rockets, but no rescue was forthcoming. Two men lost their lives and four were injured. The anchor is a poignant memory of a ship that was heavier than the Cutty Sark.
This striking fused glass panel from Connemara Blue brings to life the main elements of the narrative, with the iconic anchor in the foreground set against a captivating backdrop of beach, rocks, sea and skies.
A beautiful piece of art to brighten any room, or a perfect handmade designer gift for someone special.
