General Questions
One of the first things we often hear when people come into our shop is ‘what gorgeous, bright colours!’, closely followed by ‘how do you paint your glass?’ Fused glass is, in fact, very different in that the layers of coloured glass we use to create our designs are placed into a kiln at very high temperatures, effectively ‘melting’ and joining the elements together to form the finished art (resulting in what Ben likes to think of the ‘boiled sweets’ effect). Likewise, fused glass does not use the same technique as blown glass, which involves a glassblower using a blowpipe to inflate molten glass into bubbles. Stained glass, however, is similar to fused glass in that the pieces are cut from coloured glass; the main difference is that the pieces are then assembled in a lead frame rather than fused in a kiln.
If you would like to discover how we make our design, we walk you through the process here.
Many of our lovely pieces find their forever homes as soon as they appear on our website, or before they’ve even made it there! This means that they will display as ‘pre-order’.
Pre-order products are items that are available to purchase but will be lovingly made to order, meaning that they will not be shipped immediately.
You will receive email updates from us letting you know of the progress of your pre-order piece, and be notified of when it is likely to be shipped.Â
If you are in any doubt about a purchase of a pre-order item, please do get in touch with us via the ‘Contact Us‘. We’re here to help!
We pack each of our glass pieces very carefully, which is why we are confident to offer a free replacement in case of breakage during transit. Please send us an email with a photo of the broken piece, and we will make and send you a new one as soon as possible.
Your wall panel should come with full instructions for mounting. If you are missing this instruction sheet, send us a message and we will email you a pdf instruction sheet.
Absolutely! We offer a custom design service. For a quotation, please get in contact, with the following information:
– type of piece required
– size of piece required
– details of the design and colour scheme you are looking for
We will contact you to discuss your project in detail, and will start work on it once you have approved the design, price, and estimated timescale.
Whilst our products are food safe, we do not recommend that you put your glass piece in the dishwasher.
Absolutely not!
